GAZA August 06. 2024 (Saba) -The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced the selection of its president in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, to be the head of the movement's political bureau, succeeding the martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in the Iranian capital Tehran about a week ago.
The movement said in a brief statement published on Tuesday evening: "The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announces the selection of leader Yahya Sinwar as head of the movement's political bureau, succeeding the martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh, may Allah have mercy on him."
Yahya Sinwar, head of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" in the Gaza Strip and head of its political bureau, born in 1962, was arrested by the Zionist enemy several times and sentenced to four life sentences before being released in a prisoner exchange deal in 2011, and returned to his activity in the leadership of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the "military wing of Hamas", and was elected head of the movement in the Gaza Strip in 2017 and again in 2021.

He was educated at Khan Younis Secondary School for Boys, before joining the Islamic University of Gaza and graduating with a bachelor's degree in Arabic studies.

On November 21, 2011, he married Samar Mohamed Abu Zumar, a Gazan woman with a master's degree in theology from the Islamic University of Gaza, and has one son, Ibrahim.
