
SANA'A August 19. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting held on Monday at the Yemeni Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control Organization discussed the readiness of plastic production factories and factories to manufacture plastic baskets for exporting local products of fruits.
At the meeting, the Executive Director General of the Yemeni Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Organization, Sam Al-Bashiri, affirmed the readiness of the authority's leadership to cooperate fully with plastic manufacturers in determining the specification for export baskets, based on its role in supporting, protecting and controlling the local product.
He pointed out that this meeting comes within the framework of the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership, in addition to the directions of the Supreme Agricultural Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the relevant authorities to export local agricultural products, including fruits.
Al-Bashiri called on the plastics sector to intensify efforts and provide the Agricultural Committee and the Authority with data on the volume of productivity, manufacturing mold, and the period for manufacturing so that the authority can determine the specifications for export baskets.
He pointed out that the expansion of support for the export sector will provide wider opportunities for local manufacturers to benefit from international markets, and enhance the status of Yemeni products at the global level.
For his part, the export official in the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee, Mohsen Atef, confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Committee to facilitate and overcome all difficulties and obstacles. He stressed the need for the private sector to provide sufficient quantities of plastic baskets conforming to standard specifications.
For his part, the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sanaa city, Mohamed Salah, praised the interaction of the Standards Authority and the Agricultural Committee with local agricultural products, and the importance of exporting locally made baskets, in preparation for dispensing with foreign baskets.
He pointed to the pivotal role of local manufacturers in supporting the national economy and providing the market's needs of plastic products.
Salah urged manufacturers to respond to the call of the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee to contribute to the manufacture of containers (baskets), which ensure the preservation of the quality of fruits during transportation and are suitable for storage and handling.
The manufacturers expressed their readiness to provide suitable plastic containers for packing Yemeni fruits intended for export. Stressing their keenness to meet the requests of the competent authorities and partners promptly.
