American doctors urge Biden to halt arms sales to Occupation
[21/ August/2024]
CHICAGO August 21. 2024 (Saba) - A group of American doctors, recently returned from the Gaza Strip, has called on President Joe Biden and his administration to impose an immediate arms embargo on Israel.

During a press conference at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, the doctors emphasized the devastating impact of Israeli attacks on Gaza and warned that the U.S. risks complicity in these actions if it continues to supply arms to Israel.

Dr. Tami Abu Ghanem, one of the doctors who was in Gaza, highlighted the unbearable conditions civilians are enduring due to the prolonged Israeli assaults. He stated, "The ongoing Israeli attacks have made life in Gaza impossible," noting that the support from the United States has exacerbated the situation.

Dr. Feroz Sidhwa, who spent time in Gaza from March 25 to April 8, described witnessing "genocidal violence," recounting the daily horrors, including children being targeted by sniper fire. She expressed deep concern over the systematic destruction she observed in Khan Younis.

The press conference also featured a letter from Mark Perlmutter, an American Jewish doctor working in Gaza, who described the harrowing experiences of treating children severely injured by gunfire. Perlmutter's message was a plea to the U.S. government to cease its military support for Israel, citing the moral and humanitarian implications.

The doctors' appeal comes amidst growing international scrutiny of the U.S.'s role in the ongoing conflict, urging a reevaluation of its policies towards Israel.
