GAZA August 23.2024 (Saba) - The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Friday condemned the fallacies stated yesterday by the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wensland, while briefing the Security Council on recent developments in the region.
A member of Hamas political bureau in Gaza Strip, Bassem Naeem, expressed in a press statement his deep regret over Winsland’s insistence on the same language in which he equates the aggressor with the attacked, in clear violation of international law and even going beyond the stated position of the United Nations, which was expressed by many international organizations in Palestine.
While he adopted the enemy’s narrative that he is promoting, the UN official justified the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people in all regions.
Commander Naeem explained that Winsland, in his briefing, adopted the enemy’s story regarding shelter centers, civilian buildings, and United Nations headquarters, as he claimed that they were being used for military purposes without any evidence, and this is the occupation’s story, which he did not prove at any time, and thus he gives the occupation pretexts to continue the bombing and killing of civilians.
He noted that Winsland ignored all the photos and videos proving the enemy army’s use of schools, universities, citizens’ homes, and even UN headquarters as military bases.
Naeem was surprised that the UN coordinator once again adopted the occupation’s narrative in justifying its aggression against the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
By killing people and demolishing homes on top of their residents, as part of pursuing the resistance forces, “he forgot that more than 20,000 Palestinians were killed during the past years in all the streets, alleys and homes of the occupied West Bank without any justifications, other than the fact that they were Palestinians living in their homeland.”
The Hamas leader denounced Winsland’s description of the Palestinian people’s resistance against the occupation as “terrorism,” while he described the state terrorism practiced by settlers with the protection of the army and government ministers as “violence.”
