
MOSCOW August 23. 2024 (Saba) - Russian security authorities on Friday said hostages were killed and wounded during the process of holding them inside a federal prison in the southern city of Volgograd.
The Russian Federal Service said in a press release that at least two people were killed and four others injured in a hostage-taking operation in the Volgograd city prison.
"Action is currently being taken to free the hostages," the Service said, confirming that there were fatalities during the incident.
Russia's TASS news agency quoted its sources as saying that at least three prisoners took part in the assault on prison service staff at Volgograd prison.
Some media reported that the hostage-takers were demanding a helicopter and two million dollars.
