Russian forces target seven Ukrainian brigades in 13 areas in Sumy

MOSCOW August 28. 2024 (Saba) - Russian forces have targeted seven brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 13 areas in the region of Sumy.

According to a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday, units of the forces of the "North" group of Russian forces, supported by army aviation and Russian artillery fire, repelled eight attacks from hostile attack groups in the direction of Burki, Korenevo, Cremiano and Malaya Luknia.

In addition, Russian forces thwarted attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces, in the direction of Spaloni, Olgovka and Ruskaya Konobelka.

As a result, the Ukrainian armed forces lost about 75 military personnel killed and wounded, a tank and eight armored combat vehicles were destroyed, and five soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces surrendered.

The statement continued: "Air strikes, artillery fire and active operations of Russian troops neutralized the concentrations of manpower and destroyed the equipment of the 22nd, 61st, 115th, 82nd and 92nd Air Attack Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the regions of Abanasovka, Burki, Viktorovka, Kruglenko, Krasnotybersky, Lyubimovka, Malaya Luknia, Mirny, Novaya Sorochina, Obovka, Plekhovo, Sverdlikovo, Sudja, Sanagost and Zhny.

"Russian tactical operational aviation targeted concentrations of military personnel and equipment in the Sumy region, targeting the 41st and 54th Mechanized Brigades, the 80th Air Attack Brigade, the 69th Separate Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the First Brigade of the National Guard, as well as the 101st, 103rd and 107th Ground Defense Brigades in the Ateenskoye, Bilopol, Puyaro Lezichi, Glukhov, Iskirskovshchina, Masenzovka, Mikhailovskoye, Pervomaiskoye, Postogorod, Solyaniki, Chaligino, Ugrody and Isman regions," the Russian ministry's statement said.

The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to about 380 military personnel, 30 armored vehicles, including a tank, an infantry fighting vehicle and 28 armored combat vehicles, in addition to six artillery pieces, three mortars and nine vehicles.

In total, during the battles towards Kursk, Ukrainian forces lost about 7,000 military personnel, 74 tanks, 35 infantry fighting vehicles, 62 armored personnel carriers, 460 armored combat vehicles, 210 vehicles, 51 artillery pieces, 13 multi-launch rocket launchers, including four Hemars launcher systems, one MLRS, five anti-aircraft missile systems, ten electronic warfare stations, two anti-cannon radars, an air defense radar and five units of engineering equipment, including Two engineering demining vehicles and one UR-77 demining vehicle, and according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the process of destroying units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces continues.
