HODEIDA September 05. 2024 (Saba) - The project of cultivating arable land in the Tehama Plain, which was launched in conjunction with the agricultural season of 1446 AH, represents a glimmer of hope for promising opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency in cereal crops.

The project, which is being implemented by agricultural cooperatives in Hodeida Governorate, reflects the leadership's keenness and interest to mobilize efforts and energies to expand the cultivation of grain crops in the areas of the Tehama plain rich in bounties, by taking advantage of the rainy season.

Through this project, in which various parties combine efforts, the associations seek to activate the role of society, overcome the difficulties facing farmers, and provide them with seeds and 137 tillage equipment so as to activate contract farming and benefit from them in the cultivation of various types of grains.

The project also aims to take advantage of the rainy season to grow varieties and other agricultural crops in order to contribute to achieving tangible progress to reach food self-sufficiency.

The first deputy governor of Hodeida, Ahmed Al-Beshri, said the implementation of the project comes after a number of meetings with representatives of agricultural associations to discuss plans and procedures necessary to cultivate 100,000 hectares of desert land and arable sand dunes in conjunction with the rainy season.
