GAZA - SABA : The Israeli army late on Monday stopped a UN convoy en route to northern Gaza for more than 8 hours, UNRWA General Commissionaire said on Monday.
The convoy included local and international staffers heading to vaccinate children against polio in Gaza City and North Gaza, Fylyb Lazaryny added in a statement.
The forces at gunpoint stopped the convoy immediately after Gaza Valley barrier, with threats to detain UN staffers, he said, as the bulldozers left huge damages to UN armored vehicles.
While the staffers were released hours later and safely returned to UN base, "we can't assure if the anti-polio vaccination campaign would take place on Tuesday in North Gaza," Lazaryny added.
