OCCUPIED QUDS - SABA: Today, Wednesday, the Supreme Zionist Court rejected the Salem Abdul Ghani Ghaith family's appeal on the decision to evict them from their homes in the Batan Al-Hawa neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Wadi Hilwa Information Center - Jerusalem and the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood committee said in a joint statement that the Supreme Court rejected the appeal filed by the Salem Ghaith family, against the decision to evict them from their homes, in favor of the settlers, on the grounds of "ownership of the land to Jews."
The center and the Batan Al-Hawa neighborhood committee said that the Central Court held a session on the eighth of last June to consider the appeal submitted by the family on the eviction decision issued by the "Magistrate's Court", and after several days the Central Court rejected the appeal, so the family went to the Supreme Court, which in turn rejected the appeal, and approved the eviction decision issued by the Magistrate's and Central Courts.
Zuhair al-Rajabi, head of the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood committee, explained that the Ghaith family has been living in their home since the seventies of the last century, and the house houses ten members, including children.
Al-Rajabi added that the "Ateret Cohanim" association claims that five dunams and 200 square meters of land in the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood belong to Jews since 1881, and the association began since 2015 to hand over to families in the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood notices and judicial notices to evict them from their homes, and in recent months the implementation of eviction decisions against families began, as the Shehadeh family building and a property belonging to the Abu Nab family were seized.
Al-Rajabi, head of the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood committee, said in the statement that 87 families, comprising between 600 and 680 people, are threatened with eviction in the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood, and face judicial decisions and communications in the "magistrate, central, and high" courts.
