Former Shin Bet Chief says he would fight against land plunder if he were Palestinian

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS - SABA: In a recent interview with the Zionist Maariv newspaper, Ami Ayalon, the former head of the Shin Bet (Shabak), stated, "If I were Palestinian, I would fight without limits against those who plunder my land." Ayalon's comments were published in excerpts today, with the full interview set to appear tomorrow.

Ayalon discussed the perception gap between Israelis and Palestinians, noting that while Israelis often view Palestinians as individuals with varying traits, Palestinians see themselves as a unified people fighting against occupation.

He emphasized that Palestinians are motivated by a desire for independence rather than just survival, and that they reject the solutions proposed by "Israel," aiming instead for a Palestinian state.

He also reflected on the historical shift within Palestinian leadership: Fatah's turn to diplomacy after the first intifada in the late 1980s versus Hamas's refusal to accept Israeli promises, which they view as deceitful due to ongoing settlement expansion.

Ayalon, a prominent Zionist politician and former head of the Israeli intelligence service, is known for his role in the Labor Party and for receiving Israel’s Medal of Courage.
