The Leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, called for "the necessity of protecting the precious identity of the Islamic nation", stressing the importance of Islamic unity.
According to Iranian news agencies, this came in a speech he delivered on Monday during his reception of a group of Sunni scholars and dignitaries in Iran on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday and Islamic Unity Week.
He pointed out that "a Muslim cannot consider himself a Muslim if he ignores the pain of Muslims in Gaza, Myanmar, India or other parts of the world, because this is contrary to Islamic teachings."
