AGIDA - SABA : Firefighters in Portugal continued their efforts on Wednesday to fight about 40 forest fires that have been raging since the end of last week, after killing five people and destroying thousands of hectares of forested areas in the north and center of the country.
According to Agence France-Presse, the Portuguese authorities announced that the toll on Wednesday afternoon reported five deaths, including three firefighters who were trapped by the fires on Tuesday, a Brazilian who burned to death on Monday while trying to recover tools from a forestry company he worked for, and a volunteer firefighter who died on Sunday due to sudden exhaustion on the sidelines of an intervention.
The disasters that occurred in recent days also left 59 injured, including ten in critical condition, and assistance was provided to 59 other people on the ground, without transferring them to the hospital later.
