UNICEF: Displaced people in Gaza top 1.9 million
[20/ September/2024]
NEW YORK - (Saba): The Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Ted Chaiban, late on Thursday said the number of displaced people in the Gaza Strip has risen to 1.9 million, while the number of aid trucks has decreased from 100 trucks per day in August to only 15 trucks in September, increasing the suffering of citizens.

In a press statement, Shaiban called for an immediate ceasefire to protect children in Gaza and facilitate humanitarian access.

He stated that more than 14,000 children have been killed in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, stressing the importance of a political solution that guarantees children's rights.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening, he said.
