US official: There is path to Gaza ceasefire, but not now
[21/ September/2024]
WASHINGTON - SABA :
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan revealed on Saturday evening that there is a path to a ceasefire in Gaza, but not now.

Sullivan said in press statements: "The situation could change in the coming days and we would be able to present a proposal that Hamas and Israel would accept."

It is possible that the situation will change in the coming days and we will be able to present a proposal acceptable to Hamas and Israel," Sullivan said, indicating that the US administration continues to work with Qatar and Egypt and has not yet reached the stage of presenting a new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.

He added:" "When we feel ready to take another step on Gaza ceasefire negotiations, we will do so.

US President Joe Biden emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not doing enough to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip and a prisoner exchange.

It is noteworthy that the "Philadelphia axis" along the border between Egypt and Gaza turned into a major point of contention in the negotiations between the Palestinian resistance and "Israel", as Netanyahu refuses to withdraw Israel from the axis, while Hamas refuses the occupation to stay in it and agree to that to reach an agreement.
