[23/ September/2024]
SANA'A - SABA :
Shura Council Speaker Mohammed Hussein Al Aidarous met on Monday with the Member of the European Parliament - Member of the Bulgarian Civil Liberties and Justice Committee, "Elena Nikolova Yoncheva".

During the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Speaker Mohammed Al-Durra, the Shura Council Speaker wished the MEP success in her humanitarian mission, for which she came to Yemen to check on Bulgarian sailors among the crew of the ship "Galaxy Leader", which was seized by the Yemeni armed forces for not complying with the warnings addressed to Israeli ships or heading to occupied ports due to the Zionist entity's blatant aggression against the Palestinian people and the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

He emphasized that the Shura Council is one of the legitimate constitutional institutions that exercise its functions from the capital Sana'a, and that Yemen today owns its decision by its own hand and through its legitimate institutions that are not subject to any foreign interference and are protected by the Yemeni constitution and not the Saudi, Emirati or American regime, as is the case with the mercenary government and institutions.

Al Aidarous pointed out that the revolutionary and political leadership has always emphasized that Yemen is for peace and dialogue with all countries of the world, except for the Zionist occupation entity or the countries that support and normalize it.

He pointed out that Yemen's participation in the battle against the Zionist entity comes out of moral, humanitarian and religious values in support of the Palestinians in the face of the genocidal war, siege, starvation and blatant violation of human rights in full view of the world.

He appreciated Bulgaria's position on the Palestinian cause and its early recognition of the State of Palestine, as well as the positions of a number of European Union members who rejected the war on Gaza. He praised the rallies that took place in a number of European countries against the Zionist war on the Palestinians.

He condemned the shameful silence of some EU countries regarding the crimes and genocidal war in Gaza. He emphasized the need for these countries to review their positions and stop their arms support to the Zionist entity, which has become a serious threat to international peace and security in the region.

The Shura Council Chairman called on the United Nations to implement its resolutions on the Palestinian issue and work to end the genocide committed by the Zionists in Palestine and Gaza Strip.

The European Parliament member expressed her appreciation for the warm reception during her visit to the Bulgarian sailors and the facilitation of her mission in Yemen, as well as the attention and good treatment of the sailors and the ship's crew.

Yoncheva pointed out that her visit to Sana'a is an opportunity to build bridges of communication between Yemen and the countries of the Union. She pointed out that the decision to release the Bulgarian sailors will not be welcomed by Yemen's enemies. She stressed that she will work to convey the suffering she witnessed in Yemen as a result of the aggression and blockade.

Yoncheva pointed out that these positions encouraged the peoples of the Union countries to take part in demonstrations in support of the Palestinians and contributed to pushing a number of Union countries to recognize the Palestinian cause, while other countries are considering recognizing it, and that Bulgaria was one of the first countries to recognize the Palestinian cause since 1988.
