The Public Prosecution in Hodeida province approved the conditional release of 38 prisoners sentenced to imprisonment for crimes that do not pose a danger to society.
The head of the prosecution, Judge Hadi Ayda, told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the decision came in implementation of the instructions of the Attorney General, and in application of Article 506 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and its successors, regarding prisoners sentenced to custodial sentences.
He stated that the law guarantees conditional release for prisoners who have served three-quarters of their sentences in prison, have no special rights for others, their cases were not appealed, do not pose a serious social danger, and are not repeat offenders after obtaining certificates of good conduct , behavior, correction and psychological rehabilitation.
The province's conditional release committee, chaired by Judge Eidah and including the Director of the Social Affairs Office, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sayegh, and the Director of the Central Correctional Facility, Colonel Mansour Al-Hassani, reviewed the reports issued by social researchers from the Social Affairs, and the certificates of good conduct from the Correctional Facility for prisoners nominated for conditional release according to the lists and notes of the prosecution offices in the first instance.
