Sana'a Saba:
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jamal Amer, emphasized that the success of the peaceful political settlement process and the achievement of enduring and sustainable peace must start with tackling the poor economic conditions endured by the Yemeni people due to the use of the economy as a means of political pressure on Sana'a.

In a Sunday meeting with Mohammed Al-Ghannam, Director of the Office of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen, and Dirk-Jan Omtzigt, the Chief Economic Adviser at the same office, Minister Amer outlined that addressing the economic challenges starts with allowing the Yemeni people access to their oil wealth. This includes establishing a mechanism for exporting gas and oil derivatives, initially depositing the proceeds into a special account for salary payments under UN supervision, followed by depositing the remaining revenue into the same account.

He highlighted the failure of attempts to use economic leverage to subdue Sana'a, noting that repeating such tactics could severely undermine the progress of the peace process.

The Foreign Minister stressed Sana'a's absolute rejection of exploiting the economic file related to the interests and livelihood of the Yemeni citizens, as a political pressure card by any party, as well as rejecting repeated American attempts to link the peace process to Sana'a's abandonment of its position in support of the Azza sector in the face of war crimes and genocide committed by the Zionist entity.

He stressed support for the efforts of the United Nations and its envoy in any measures leading to a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace, which the roadmap represented one of the serious steps to achieve.

For his part, the Senior Advisor to the UN Envoy presented to the Minister of Foreign Affairs the vision of the Envoy's Office to resolve the outstanding economic issues that are still open and have placed their burdens on the Yemeni people.

He stressed the keenness of the Office of the Envoy to continue efforts to find consensual solutions that lead to neutralizing the Yemeni economy from the conflict in a way that enhances the confidence of the parties to achieve a comprehensive peace.

The Director of the Envoy's Office stated that the United Nations will continue to use good offices to reach for sustainable peace in Yemen.
