Gold prices increased on Thursday approaching historic records, backed by anticipations that senior central banks would choose more cuts in interest rates, as investors wait for data in the United States that could provide further clues about the size of the interest rates.
Gold rose in spot transactions at $2,682.14 per ounce (by 0.3 percent). Prices on Wednesday rose to $2,685.16, slightly less than the all-time high of $2685.42 on 26 September.
US gold futures added 0.2 per cent to $2,697.40.
