[19/ October/2024]
Sana'a-Saba:
Today, the Minister of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Abdullah Al-Amir, met with the Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban, to discuss coordination and cooperation in mitigating the health and environmental risks associated with waste oils.

The meeting emphasized the need to identify solutions and treatments to mitigate the issues arising from the recycling and utilization of waste oils, particularly those originating from the occupied territories.

The meeting emphasized the importance of curtailing waste oil refineries. These refineries supply oil that is utilized in bakeries, ovens, steam baths, electricity generators, and agricultural pumps, even though they contain compounds that are detrimental to both the environment and public health.

The importance of coordinating with power plants and other facilities that utilize "waste" oils was emphasized, to develop appropriate treatments that contribute to environmental protection.
