Hamas refutes claims about al-Sinwar's legacy, calls him global icon of resistance
[19/ October/2024]
Gaza - Saba:

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has strongly denied assertions made by a spokesperson for the Israeli military, characterizing them as an attempt to cover up failures within the Zionist security and military apparatus.

The statements followed the recent martyrdom of Yahya al-Sinwar, a prominent Hamas leader, during confrontations with enemy Israeli forces in Rafah.

In a press statement, Hamas condemned the claims as "blatant lies," asserting that al-Sinwar's legacy has become a "global icon of the resistant human being."

The movement highlighted al-Sinwar's leadership during al-Aqsa Flood operation, which they describe as a historic battle for the Palestinian people.

Hamas emphasized that al-Sinwar fought valiantly on the battlefield, leading resistance efforts across various fronts in the Gaza Strip. It stated that he concluded his life as a martyr, fulfilling his wish to lead the struggle for freedom and to reclaim sacred lands from what they describe as "fascist Zionists."

Furthermore, Hamas noted that Israeli forces had previously admitted to an officer being injured during the clash with al-Sinwar and his companions, reinforcing their narrative of resistance against the occupation.
