Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer met on Tuesday with head of the IOM mission Esoev Abdusattor, who presented his credentials as the organization's representative to the Republic of Yemen.
During the meeting, Minister Amer welcomed Esoev, expressing hope that the imbalances from the previous stage could be addressed effectively.
He emphasized the Ministry's commitment to providing all necessary support and facilities related to the IOM's work with migrants and displaced persons.
The Minister highlighted the importance of increasing humanitarian projects, particularly those aimed at assisting individuals displaced by conflict and the recent floods affecting the country.
He also urged the resumption of the voluntary humanitarian return program for undocumented migrants, advocating for an increase in return flights due to the challenges these individuals pose to local communities, which add an additional burden on the government.
In response, the Head of the IOM Mission expressed his enthusiasm for working in Yemen and conveyed his hope for enhanced cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, as well as the government.
