Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer met on Tuesday with the Director of the Polio Eradication Program at the World Health Organization's Regional Office for the Middle East, Dr. Hamid Jafari.
In the meeting, Minister Amer stressed the importance of paying attention to the fight against epidemics, especially in light of the blockade imposed on the country, which has created a difficult humanitarian situation. He pointed out that the Government of Change and Construction is interested in studying and diagnosing the causes of epidemics so that diseases can be eliminated.
He also stressed the Foreign Ministry's support for the joint work between the Ministry of Health , Environment and the World Health Organization to develop thoughtful and comprehensive plans to eradicate epidemics and the resulting diseases, including polio.
For his part, the program director expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry for supporting the implementation of the comprehensive plan to eradicate polio in Yemen, which contributes to urging donors to obtain funding to implement the comprehensive plan in accordance with what is agreed upon with the government represented by the Ministry of Health and Environment.
