FM met with UN Resident Coordinator to discuss Humanitarian Needs Plan for 2025
[22/ October/2024]
Sana'a-Saba:
Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Jamal Amer, met with the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, Julien Harneis, to discuss the preparations for the Humanitarian Needs Plan for the upcoming year 2025.

During the meeting, Minister Amer emphasized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' commitment to thoroughly preparing the humanitarian needs plan through cooperation and coordinated efforts with the relevant ministries and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

He emphasized the significance of next year's humanitarian response plan, which should concentrate on the groups in greatest need and the areas most impacted, while also implementing long-term development initiatives.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants emphasized the critical role of the United Nations in supporting demining operations, particularly as torrential rains and floods have displaced numerous mines into civilian areas, posing a significant threat to the lives of many inhabitants.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator conveyed his gratitude for the support and assistance offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates to the United Nations and various international governmental and non-governmental organizations working in Yemen. He emphasized that resolving the remaining issues would encourage donors to restart their financial support for humanitarian and development projects in the country.
