Today, the IKTFA Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Society in the Al-Marawi'ah District of Hodeidah Governorate was granted a 13,000 square-meter plot of land. This land, provided by the local authority and the district's land sector, is designated for the establishment of a seed bank and an agricultural complex.
At the handover ceremony, the Directorate's Director, Abdullah Al-Marwani, stated that the initiation of this project marks a significant advancement in fostering sustainable agriculture and securing food sovereignty for the nation amidst the challenges faced by the region.
He emphasized the critical need to boost local food production capacity. He noted that creating a seed bank and an agricultural complex would safeguard agricultural diversity for future generations and assist in the adoption of advanced agricultural methods that are key to increasing yield and enhancing the quality of crops.
For his part, the president of the "IKTFA" association, Mohamed Attia, explained that the association will provide a platform for agricultural cadres and farmers to support innovation and development. He pointed to the importance of partnership between the government sector and the local community, which contributes to enhancing efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable agricultural development that achieves self-sufficiency and reduces the import bill.
