Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei has strongly condemned the crime of the Zionist entity to target journalists in Lebanon.
Baghaei wrote on X saying "Another example of the brutal war crime committed by Israel is the deliberate targeting of the residence of journalists in southeastern Lebanon, on Friday morning, which led to the martyrdom of three, al-Mayadeen photographer Ghassan Najjar, his colleague, live broadcast engineer Mohammad Reza, and al-Manar cameraman Wissam Qassem, and this crime is condemned in the strongest possible terms."
He added the Israeli entity killed 180 journalists and media professionals last year alone.
The Iranian spokesman stressed that journalists and media professionals are protected under international humanitarian law in accordance with the Geneva Conventions of 1949, especially the Third Geneva Convention, and the Additional Protocols of 1977, especially Article 79 of the First Additional Protocol on the Protection of Journalists Working on Dangerous Professional Missions in Areas of Armed Conflict.
