Sana'a - Saba:

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Dr. Radhwan al-Rubai and governor of Sana'a Abdulbasit al-Hadi convened on Sunday to deliberate on the agricultural sector plan for the province.

The session, attended by CEO of the General Corporation for Coffee Development and Marketing Mani' al-Asal and Ali al-Qairi, the agricultural sector official, focused on establishing medium-sized processing plants for surplus crops.

Discussions included advancing processing industries, such as almond oil and prickly pear, and generalizing successful hydroponics practices.

Dr. al-Rubai emphasized the need for a mechanism to recover seed loans from agricultural cooperatives and the importance of value chain studies for crops like raisins, almonds, strawberries, and plums.

Governor al-Hadi highlighted the expansion in grain and legume cultivation, attributing it to farmers' awareness of strategic crops' significance.

He praised the successful coffee cultivation in Sana'a, crediting proper post-harvest practices.

The meeting also underscored the importance of community initiatives, such as planting Moringa seedlings, with a plan to distribute ten thousand seedlings in the capital.

The governor urged for the qualification of Sana'a associations' coordinators in collaboration with the ministry’s cadres to foster economic empowerment projects.
