Taiz - Saba:

A meeting was held today in Taiz Governorate, chaired by the Deputy Governor for Development Affairs, Abdulwasi' Al-Shamsi, to discuss the agricultural expansion program for solid and neglected lands in the Central Square Directorates (At Ta'iziyah, Mawiyah, and Salh).

The meeting reviewed the objectives of the emergency agriculture program and its activities, and its role in encouraging the expansion of the cultivation of staple crops such as grains, legumes, and wheat.

It addressed the program's interventions in updating data on irrigated agriculture and solid lands, inventorying available plowing equipment at the level of each directorate, and identifying needs for seeds, agricultural guidance, and pesticides in collaboration with development partners, the Endowments and Zakat Authorities, and the Land Authority.

The meeting approved the inventory of large farmers and owners of unused lands, as well as arrangements related to utilizing the winter season to cultivate as much agricultural land as possible with grain and legume crops, which are among the priorities and directions of the leadership in achieving self-sufficiency.

The attendees emphasized the importance of institutional and social building, focusing on national priorities, and achieving self-sufficiency, urging the activation of agricultural guidance, contractual farming units, and prevention, as well as enhancing the role of cooperative societies and selecting improved seeds to provide seed banks for agricultural societies in the governorate.
