Gold prices hovered near record highs on Tuesday, as investors awaited important economic data for clues on the path of interest rates to be followed by the US central bank.
According to Reuters, gold in spot transactions rose 0.5 per cent to $ 2755.42 an ounce, and prices hit a record high of $ 2758.37 an ounce last Wednesday.
US gold futures added 0.4 per cent to $2768.10.
As for other precious metals, silver in spot transactions rose 1.2 per cent to $34.0875 an ounce. Platinum added 1.4 per cent to $1047.05, and palladium rose 0.8 per cent to $1228.
