The Guardian: Over thousand writers worldwide pledge not to cooperate with Zionist entity
[29/ October/2024]

Tehran - Saba:

More than a thousand writers have pledged in a statement not to cooperate with cultural institutions affiliated with the Zionist entity, which are said to be complicit in violating the rights of Palestinians.

The British newspaper "The Guardian" reported that over a thousand writers have pledged in a statement not to cooperate with cultural institutions affiliated with the Zionist entity, which are said to be complicit in violating the rights of Palestinians, as cooperation with them could lead to the implementation of discriminatory policies and practices, which would justify the occupation, apartheid, and genocide by the Zionist entity.

It added: "Sally Rooney, Rachel Kushner, and Arundhati Roy are among the 1,000 prominent writers who pledged in a statement not to cooperate with publishers, festivals, or publications of cultural institutions affiliated with the Zionist entity 'complicit in violating the rights of Palestinians.'"

The statement indicated that sanctions would be imposed on institutions that have never publicly recognized the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people as stipulated in international law.

Another part of the statement affirmed: "As writers, publishers, literary festival staff, and other writer activists, we publish this message while facing the deepest moral, political, and cultural crisis of the 21st century. Since at least last October, over 43,000 people have been targeted and killed in Gaza, following 75 years of displacement, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid."

It is noted that culture has played a crucial role in normalizing these grievances. Additionally, Zionist cultural institutions, which often work directly with the government, have played an active role in suppressing millions of Palestinians for decades.
