Occupied al-Quds– Saba:

The Commission of Prisoners' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club reported Wednesday that the number of administrative detainees in Israeli prisons has reached 3,398, including 30 women and 90 children, as of early October.

In a joint statement, the organizations highlighted a historical escalation in the use of administrative detention, noting that these detainees account for 33% of the total prison population.

Since the onset of the current conflict in Gaza on October 7, Israeli authorities have issued over 9,500 administrative detention orders, encompassing both new and renewal orders.

Among the detained children is 14-year-old Ammar Abdulkarim. The statement emphasized that the increase in administrative detainees is closely linked to a surge in arrest campaigns in the West Bank, including al-Quds, which have resulted in more than 11,500 arrests across various demographics.

The report also drew attention to the systematic violence associated with these arrest campaigns, including instances where detainees faced execution attempts during their apprehension.

Notable cases include Saleh Hassouna from Jalazone and Yaqoub al-Hawarin from Hebron, both of whom sustained serious injuries from direct gunfire during their arrests and were subsequently transferred to administrative detention after treatment in occupation hospitals.
