Sana'a - Saba:
The General Traffic Police Administration has circulated a notice to its branches in the capital and provinces, forbidding traffic officers from entering citizens' vehicles for standard traffic violations.
The Traffic Police explained in a statement received by the Yemen News Agency (Saba) that the circular comes in light of the observations received regarding some violations committed by certain traffic personnel, and to enhance trust and relationships with the community, respect the privacy of vehicle owners, and prevent any misconduct that could harm traffic officers.
It emphasized that it is strictly prohibited for traffic personnel to board vehicles with violations or to transport them to impound centers, and they should only issue traffic violation tickets.
The circular exempted cases of enforcement tasks carried out by the traffic control unit during traffic campaigns, in response to security and traffic reports during incidents, or if there is an assault on traffic officers, or refusal to comply with their instructions during the organization of events and traffic flow.
The traffic police emphasized that anyone from its members who violates these instructions will be referred to the disciplinary council and will expose themselves to severe penalties. The directors of traffic police in the capital and free governorates are to oversee the implementation of these instructions.
At the same time, it warned of the necessity for citizens to adhere to traffic rules and etiquette, stressing that it will tighten measures against reckless violators of traffic regulations whose annual violations exceed reasonable limits.
