Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior scored the home side's only goal from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute of the first half at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid.
The defeat came just three days after Real Madrid fell at home to rivals Barcelona (0-4) in the ‘El Clásico’, which took place last Saturday evening, at the top of the 11th round of La Liga matches.
The defending champions suffered their second defeat in the current season (2024-2025) of the UEFA Champions League, in its new format, against two wins, to stand at six points and drop to seventeenth place in the group standings.
