Juba-Saba:

The United Nations has warned that the floods in South Sudan affected about 1.4 million people, and displaced more than 379 thousand, in addition to the increase in the number of malaria infections due to the repercussions of the floods.

The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported in a statement issued and reported by Agence France-Presse that the floods have now affected the residents of 43 counties and the Abyei Administrative Area, indicating that more than 397 thousand people have been displaced in 22 counties and in Abyei.

South Sudan is facing the worst floods the region has witnessed in decades, especially in the north.

The OCHA office reported in a previous report that about 893 thousand people were affected by the floods, and that more than 241 thousand were displaced, in addition to the increase in malaria infections in several states, which exhausts the health system, exacerbates the situation and affects the areas hit by the floods.

For its part, the World Bank announced that the floods in Sudan are exacerbating an already critical humanitarian situation in light of severe food insecurity, economic decline, and ongoing conflict.
