New York - Saba:
The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, stressed that the United States of America and ‘Israel’ are guilty of killing more than 43,000 Palestinians since the beginning of the Zionist-American aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Nebenzia said during a meeting of the UN Security Council, according to Sputnik: ‘In more than a year since the events of 7 October, Washington, which serves ‘Israel’ in everything, shares with the Israeli government the guilt for the killing of more than 43,000 Palestinians, including by US weapons that are regularly supplied to the region, as well as those who died of hunger and infectious diseases.’
He noted that if ‘Israel’ was really ready to reach an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of prisoners, it ‘would have agreed to it long ago, and would not have put forward new conditions’.
‘The Americans deliberately deceived all of us and bought time for Israel to implement its plans to exterminate as many Palestinians as possible in Gaza and turn this region into a completely uninhabitable area,’ he said.
‘Russia fully supports the draft resolution on Gaza prepared by more than ten non-permanent members of the Security Council, which directly demands an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire and the release of all hostages, and calls for its discussion and voting without further delay,’ he added.
According to him, the adoption of this document would be ‘a belated but real step towards ending the massacre, bringing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict out of the current impasse and a prelude to resuming the peace process on a generally recognised international legal basis including the two-state solution,’ stressing that ‘there is no other way to achieve a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East.’
He continued: ‘There is no other way to achieve a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East.’
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on both sides to cease hostilities. According to the Russian position, a settlement can only be achieved on the basis of the formula approved by the UN Security Council, which provides for the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that his country calls for the immediate resumption of the negotiation process on the establishment of a Palestinian state, stressing President Vladimir Putin's position that the Middle East crisis should be settled on the basis of the ‘two-state solution’ formula approved by the UN Security Council.
The Zionist entity has been continuing its aggression against Gaza since 7 October 2023, which has led to the martyrdom of more than 43,000 Palestinians and the injury of more than 100,000 others, mostly women and children, in addition to thousands of missing persons, according to Palestinian media.
