The Minister of Electricity and Water, his deputy, and the Secretary General of Al Mahwit Governorate inaugurated the foundation stone for 36 water projects in the governorate at a total cost of 2.655 billion riyals funded by donor partners, to improve water sources and expand solar energy and sewage projects.
The projects include 15 projects at 1.756 billion riyals, and 21 other projects at 898 million riyals, benefiting about 153,000 people. A project to rehabilitate the water of the central isolation in Jabal Al-Mahwit district was also inaugurated at 19.67 million riyals, benefiting 5,000 people with funding from UNICEF.
The minister and his deputy inspected a water project in the governorate center, powered by a solar energy system, which was 100% complete at 473 million riyals funded by UNOPS. The minister stressed the importance of these strategic projects to alleviate the suffering of citizens, especially in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through.
