Sana'a - Saba:

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources announced the start of the implementation of the contract farming program for agricultural products and raw materials for manufacturing industries to replace the local product with the importer.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Dr. Radwan Ali Al-Rubai told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the directions of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council and the program of the government of change and construction emphasize the regulation of imports and the replacement of local products with importers, in addition to increasing exports.

He stressed that the ministry, in coordination with various relevant authorities, has made strides in managing the import bill, implementing the value chains program for local products, working to improve quality and reduce costs as one of the components of import invoice management, and the contract farming program.

Dr. Al-Rubai called on importers, exporters, and manufacturers to interact with the program and speed up the submission of their requests for local products, and to buy the local product instead of the importer, pointing out that the contract farming program will be implemented for consumption, export or manufacturing.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources seeks to replace agricultural products and manufacturing raw materials from agricultural products with importers, as a strategic goal to achieve self-sufficiency and encourage local products in order to reduce the import bill and increase exports through the marketing of agricultural and fish products through the contract farming program.
