Jihad accuses Washington of managing war of extermination in Gaza

Gaza - Saba:

The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine expressed its condemnation on Wednesday of America's use of the veto in the Security Council to obstruct the draft resolution for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The movement said in a statement "The use of the US veto in the Security Council against a draft resolution for a ceasefire confirms that it is managing a war of extermination against our people."

Earlier in the day, the United States used its veto against a resolution of the United Nations Security Council calling for a ceasefire in the Zionist enemy's war on the Gaza Strip, which the Palestinian resistance factions considered a partnership in the war of extermination against the Strip.

The draft resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza, which was supported by 14 countries and opposed by only the United States, called for "an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire that must be respected by all parties," and "the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages."

The draft resolution stressed the need for the parties to comply with their obligations under international law with regard to the persons they detain, and to enable the civilian population in the Gaza Strip to immediately obtain basic services and humanitarian assistance necessary for their survival.

The draft resolution on the ceasefire called on all parties to fully comply with international law, including international humanitarian law, in particular its provisions relating to the protection of civilians, especially women, children and persons hors de combat, as well as its provisions relating to the protection of civilian objects.
