Meeting in Taiz discusses water sector status in province

Taiz - Saba:
A meeting in Taiz Province, which included Acting Governor Ahmed Al-Masawi, Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy and Water Adel Bader and UNICEF's Head of Water and Environmental Sanitation Peter Harvey, discussed the status of the water sector in the province and the organization's interventions in the water and sanitation fields in rural and urban areas.

The meeting reviewed the second phase of the solar energy system to operate the rest of Al-Haima's wells, as well as the project of a 3,000 cubic meter tank.

The meeting discussed the possibility of rehabilitating Al-Hojla's 17 wells with pumping and distribution lines to fully supply the city with clean drinking water, as well as the city's needs for priority sanitation projects in the eastern areas of the city to limit the spread of epidemics and improve the environmental situation in the city.

The Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy and Water stressed his keenness to visit Taiz province with the head of UNICEF's Water and Environmental Sanitation Section to review the province's needs for water projects and work to complete their implementation with the support of the organization.

He appreciated UNICEF's support for water projects in the province, pointing out the need for everyone to cooperate to serve local development in the province and complete water projects.
