With new veto US proves it is key partner in Zionist genocidal war on Gaza
[21/ November/2024]
Sana'a - Saba:

Once again, the United States of America proves that it is a key partner in the Zionist war of genocide on the Gaza Strip, by using its veto power in the Security Council today, Wednesday, against a draft resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the UN website, the draft resolution, submitted by the ten elected members of the Council, called for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire respected by all parties, and reiterated its demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.

Rodrigues, presented Birkett , the draft resolution on behalf of the ten elected members of the Security Council: Algeria, Guyana, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Malta, Ecuador and Slovenia.

The draft resolution received the support of 14 of the 15 members of the Security Council , but it was not adopted because the United States, a permanent member of the Council, used its veto.

The draft resolution also rejects any act to starve the Palestinians, and calls for the full, rapid, safe and unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and all its areas, and its delivery to all Palestinian civilians in need, including civilians in the besieged northern Gaza Strip who are in dire need of immediate humanitarian relief, under the coordination of the United Nations.

The draft resolution also stresses that UNRWA remains the backbone of the humanitarian response in Gaza, calling on all parties to enable the Agency to implement its mandate as adopted by the General Assembly, in all its areas of operation, with full respect for the principles of humanitarian action based on humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence, and to respect international humanitarian law, including the protection of United Nations and humanitarian facilities.

The new American veto was met with widespread Palestinian, Arab and international criticism, which was described as a "sad day" for the international community, which failed to stop the war that has been going on for more than 400 days in the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by the Zionist war machine.

Palestinian Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Majed Bamia said today that there was "no justification" for the United States to use its veto against a draft resolution in the Security Council calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. He said after the vote: "There is absolutely no justification for using its veto against a draft resolution that attempts to stop the atrocities."

In a statement, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas condemned the United States’ use of its veto in the Security Council against the resolution to cease fire in Gaza, saying: “The United States proves once again that it is a direct partner in the aggression against our people and is responsible for the war of extermination.” It stressed that the American veto is a hostile position that nullifies the will of the international community and provides cover for the continuation of the war of extermination and ethnic cleansing.

The movement called on the United States to "cease this reckless hostile policy if it truly seeks to end wars and achieve security and stability in the region, as we have heard from the elected administration." It also called on the international community to put an end to this American encroachment on international will, which has only achieved wars, death, destruction and chaos in the region and beyond.

In turn, the Palestinian presidency condemned in a statement today the use of the veto by the United States of America in the UN Security Council to prevent the adoption of a resolution calling for a ceasefire and an end to the Zionist aggression in the Gaza Strip. It stressed that the US administration’s use of the veto for the fourth time encourages the enemy to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people and the brotherly Lebanese people, and to defy all international legitimacy and international law resolutions, most notably the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice issued in the UN General Assembly resolution, which called for an end to the aggression, an end to the occupation, and the Zionist withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, which makes it bear responsibility for the continued aggression against the Palestinian people and their land.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine said in a statement: “The US administration’s use of the veto in the Security Council to abort a resolution for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is clear evidence that the US administration is the one managing the war of extermination and crimes of ethnic cleansing against our people in the Gaza Strip.” It added: “The US veto is evidence that the United States is “supervising all the massacres committed by the Nazi Zionist occupation army.”

While the Popular Front said: The American veto against a resolution to stop the aggression on Gaza reveals America's fixed hostile position and its direct involvement in the war of extermination.

For its part, the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement said: “The failure of the UN Security Council to issue a ceasefire resolution in Gaza due to the new American veto proves once again its failure and inability, and that the entire international system is hostage to Zionist -American hegemony and arrogance , and that America and the entity are a real threat to international security and stability.”

The Mujahideen Movement condemned the American veto, noting that it clearly indicates that the United States is the one managing and continuing the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.

The movement called on "all the nation's living and resistant forces to pressure the nation's enemy and the head of global terrorism, America, by all means until it stops its support for the killing of innocents in Gaza."

In Arabic, Algeria's representative before the Security Council denounced the failure to adopt a resolution to stop the war in Gaza, and considered it a "sad day for the international community." He pledged to return to the Council again to demand an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, and stressed the need for the Security Council to be forced to reach a settlement to the Palestinian issue.

The Algerian ambassador, Amar Benjamaa, held one country responsible. He said that this vote means that the Security Council is giving the occupying Israeli state another chance for more killing and destruction. He asked: How many more children do you want to kill to accept a ceasefire? Isn’t 45,000 victims enough?

Internationally, Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Fu Cong told the Security Council: “It is not surprising that people feel angry” after “Israel” violated the red lines of international humanitarian law in Gaza.

Fu Cong criticized the American position, considering that Washington repeatedly uses its veto power against Security Council measures to stop the war in Gaza.

The Chinese ambassador stressed the need for the United States to take its membership seriously and support the Security Council's efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

In turn, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily, stressed that Nebenzia said on Wednesday that "Moscow is shocked" by the US "veto" of the UN Security Council draft resolution on an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Malta also criticised the Security Council's failure, saying in a statement: "The Council has once again failed to maintain international peace and security as a result of Washington's use of its veto against a draft resolution to stop the war on the Gaza Strip."

"We have been very clear throughout the negotiations that we cannot support an unconditional ceasefire that does not allow for the release of the hostages," US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood explained after the vote, explaining the reasons for the veto. He said that the council would have sent Hamas "a dangerous message that there is no need to return to the negotiating table."

The Zionist enemy continues its fierce aggressive war on the Gaza Strip for 411 consecutive days, while continuing to commit war crimes and horrific massacres, and attempts to displace the residents of the northern Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to ongoing military aggression for the 46th consecutive day.

The death toll from the ongoing Zionist -American military aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, according to official data issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, has risen to 43,985 martyrs, in addition to 104,092 wounded with varying injuries.
