Manila - Saba:
The death toll from Typhoon Man Yi which hit the Philippines over the weekend has risen to 12.
AFP quoted the Philippine National Disaster Management Agency as saying in a statement today: "Typhoon Man Yi flooded several villages and buildings in the Philippines," noting that strong winds accompanied the typhoon reached a maximum speed of 185 kilometers per hour.
It added: Most of the dead were in mountainous areas north of the capital Manila, including seven people killed after their house was buried by a landslide in the province of Nueva Vizcaya, and a rock crushed a house and buried three people in the coastal town of Depacolao, while two people were killed in other areas, stressing that four people are still missing.
