Baghdad - Saba:

Iraqi security forces today thwarted a dangerous terrorist plot and dismantled an ISIS network in the northern province of Kirkuk.

The National Security Agency said in a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "With a qualitative and pre-emptive operation and intelligence information, our forces were able to thwart a dangerous terrorist plot in Kirkuk province to target government sites and confuse the peaceful situation in the province."

The statement pointed out that the security detachments were able to dismantle a network belonging to ISIS gangs that include seven terrorist elements, including the so-called "Emir Qate'a of Kurdistan", explaining that the raid resulted in the suicide of one of the terrorists after besieging them and arresting the rest, while devices, equipment, drones, documents and books carrying takfiri ideology were seized.

Last month, Iraqi forces eliminated the so-called "Wali Al-Iraq" in ISIS and eight senior leaders of the militant group in the Hamrin mountains of Salah al-Din province.
