Foreign Minister Jamal Amer met today with Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Maqaleh, the representative of Marie Stopes International, to discuss the organization’s activities and projects for 2024.
During the meeting, Minister Amer was briefed on the organization’s projects in Yemen, particularly in maternal and child health, and its support for government facilities through the performance-based support program.
The Minister emphasized the importance of the organization focusing on meeting the needs of government hospitals, especially in providing medications for hereditary blood disorders like thalassemia, as well as dialysis and chronic disease treatments.
He expressed hope for the organization to expand its projects in the coming period by seeking new funding sources to support humanitarian efforts in Yemen.
For his part, Dr. Al-Maqaleh noted that Marie Stopes International has been operating in Yemen since 1998, primarily supporting the healthcare sector. He added that the organization is active in most of Yemen’s governorates and is currently seeking new donors for humanitarian projects in 2025.
The meeting was attended by Ismail Al-Mutawakel, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for International Cooperation.
