Capitals - Saba:

Palestinian reactions to the decision of Zionist War Minister Yisrael Katz to cancel the administrative detention of Zionist settlers who attack Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have increased.

In this context, Qadoura Fares, head of the Palestinian Prisoners and Liberators Affairs Authority, emphasized that canceling the policy of administrative detention for settlers who attack Palestinians demonstrates the extent of this enemy's insolence, disregard and arrogance towards the international system and its formations.

Fares said in a press release today, Saturday: “The enemy issued this decision at a time when it is practicing the most heinous attack on the Palestinian people, in terms of daily random arrests, and consecrating collective punishment through the unprecedented expansion of the use of the administrative detention policy, under which nearly 3,500 Palestinians are detained today.

He added: “Today, this extremist Yisrael Katz comes to us to give facilities to settlers to commit more crimes against Palestinians, and to strip them of some formal restrictions, of which administrative detention was part.”

He stressed that Katz's decision “reflects Zionist racism, as it comes at a time when the occupation authorities are expanding the use of the administrative detention policy against Palestinians, which currently detains about 3,500 Palestinians.” He called on the international community “to break its deadly silence against the Palestinian people and their rights.”

For his part, Khaled Mansour, a leader in the popular resistance in the villages of the West Bank, said in a statement: The settlers have turned into an organized army, with full armed tools similar to the Zionist army. He pointed out that this army has shifted in its functional tasks from the idea of occupation to the idea of deciding the existing situation, through full control of the land and the acquisition of the surrounding villages adjacent to the settlements.

Mansour explained that the enemy army's decisions to give the settlers a free hand means making them an advanced hand in criminality and violating the sanctity of blood and the sanctity of the land in the West Bank.

For his part, the leader of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Tayseer Khaled, described

This decision is provocative and represents the height of lies and impudence and constitutes a license for the hilltop youth, rebellion and price-tag movement with official cover from the enemy government.

Khaled said in a press release: It is absurd for the Zionist war minister to claim that the settlements in the West Bank are under serious threats after these settlements have turned into what looks like military barracks protected by the enemy army and Ben-Ghafir militias.

Taysir Khaled welcomed the position announced by the Zionist Peace Now movement in response to Yisrael Katz's decision to cancel administrative detention against settlers, as it constitutes support for Jewish terrorism, and called for the widest international condemnation campaign against this decision.

The Peace Now movement had commented on Katz's decision by saying - via the X-platform - that it is “a government that supports Jewish terrorism.” “This is a government that supports Jewish terrorism.” The anti-occupation movement argued that the war minister's decision could encourage settlers to escalate violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The Zionist newspaper “Yediot Ahronot” considered Katz's decision unprecedented, and a blow to the Zionist General Security Service “Shin Bet”.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the decision, saying in a statement: It encourages settlers to commit more crimes and violations against Palestinian citizens. The decision encourages “extremist settlers to practice terrorism against Palestinians, their land and property, and gives them an additional sense of immunity and protection.”

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry pointed out that the number of extremist settlers who have been arrested is very small and is based on the principle of formal arrests in a revolving door pattern.

In press statements, Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas considered the decision a green light for more settler attacks and crimes in the West Bank, and that the decision “legitimizes the killing of Palestinians, especially with the strengthening of their armament and protection by the Zionist enemy army.”

Amir Daoud, director of publishing and documentation in the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, emphasized that the settlers' arrests were formal and ineffective. He said that Katz's decision is a message that the government is proceeding with its plans and will not weaken in the face of the International Criminal Court's decision to issue arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant.

On Friday, Zionist War Minister Yisrael Katz decided to stop issuing administrative detention decisions against settlers accused of attacking Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Katz's office said in a statement: The minister informed the head of the General Security Service (Shin Bet), Ronen Bar, in a meeting they held this week, “his decision to stop using administrative arrest warrants against Jewish settlers in the West Bank and asked him to develop alternative tools.”

It is noteworthy that the number of administrative detainees of settlers currently does not exceed eight individuals, while the daily crimes of settlers continue, in all areas of the occupied West Bank, amid complicit international silence.

Administrative detention is a detention based on secret information that is not disclosed, but it has affected settlers accused of serious crimes against Palestinian civilians, including murder, burning of land and property, and severe physical assaults.

On October 7, 2024, the United States imposed sanctions on an extremist Zionist group called “Hilltop Youth” for its work to establish “illegal” settlement outposts across the West Bank. In recent months, several Western countries have also announced sanctions against settlers and settlement organizations in the West Bank for committing crimes against Palestinians.

The Zionist enemy uses administrative detention mainly against Palestinians, as the Prisoners' Affairs Authority reports that there are 3443 Palestinians under administrative detention in prisons

Zionism While there is no official Zionist statistic for the number of Zionists under administrative detention or those who have been administratively detained, there are very few.

Administrative detention lasts for up to six months and can be extended without providing evidence against the detainee. According to data from the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, settlers carried out 360 attacks in the occupied West Bank last October.

About half a million settlers reside in 146 settlements and 144 settlement outposts built on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.

In parallel with the Zionist genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, the Zionist enemy army and the Zionist settler herds expanded their attacks in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, which resulted in the martyrdom of 795 Palestinians and the injury of about 6,450 others, according to official Palestinian data.

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy has been committing a genocide in Gaza that has left more than 148,000 Palestinians dead and injured in the Strip, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and a famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
