[24/ November/2024]

Ibb - Saba:

Ibb Governor Abdul Wahed Salah today inaugurated the distribution of 123 tonnes of improved seeds to 4,898 farmers in the governorate's districts, as part of this year's winter emergency planting program.

This distribution comes within the framework of the expansion project to cultivate basic crops of cereals and legumes, implemented by the agricultural sector in the governorate and supported by the General Organization for the Development and Production of Grains and the local seed propagation project.

During the inauguration, Governor Salah stressed that this step comes as a translation of the directives of the leadership of the revolution, the Supreme Political Council, and the government of change and construction, with the aim of achieving food security and reducing dependence on imports, calling on farmers to take advantage of the winter season to cultivate land with basic crops.

Boosting local production of grains and legumes is a priority to achieve self-sufficiency and face economic challenges, he said, praising the efforts of workers in the agricultural sector in the province and their support for farmers.

For his part, the director of the agricultural sector in the governorate, Engineer Hamoud Al-Rasas, indicated that the project aims to cultivate a thousand hectares of land using improved seeds, with the distribution of 952 bags of wheat seeds, 550 bags of maize, and 1,464 bags of beans.

Al-Rasas stressed that these efforts aim to boost agricultural production and exploit the rainy season to achieve an abundance of crops this year, praising the support of the General Organization for Grain Development and the local seed propagation project through the provision of soft agricultural loans.
