Sana'a - Saba:

The Undersecretary of Sana'a Governorate for the Services Sector and Deputy Chairman of the Emergency Committee, Fares Al-Kahali, inspected today the sites of the rocky blocks that are about to fall in Bani Matar district, accompanied by the director of the Civil Defense Authority branch in the governorate, Colonel Muhammad Jaafar, and a specialized engineering team.

The tour included the villages of Rukb in Jabal An-Nabī Shuʿayb and Beit Raddam, where officials were briefed on the rock masses that pose a direct threat to residents. The delegation listened to the complaints of citizens whose homes were damaged due to mountain cracks caused by heavy rains, which forced some families to flee.

Al-Kahali and the Director of Civil Defense stressed the importance of speeding up the implementation of appropriate solutions based on the reports of the engineering team in charge of studying the risks and providing recommendations to address them.

Colonel Jaafar explained that 15 rocky sites threatened with falling have been counted in eight districts in the province, while the head of the engineering team, Dr. Sami Al-Jabobi, pointed out that the village of Al-Ruk faces great danger from a huge rock mass that was moved by the rains and damaged homes. In the village of Beit Dam, the rock masses hanging above the houses remain dangerous, especially during the rainy season.

The engineering team confirmed that a comprehensive report will be submitted to the competent authorities that includes a risk assessment and the necessary measures to avoid future disasters.
