Beijing - Saba:
President Chinese Xi Jinping emphasized on Wednesday that his country will continue to work with the international community to help end the fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Xi Jinping said in a congratulatory message to the UN meeting on the occasion of the International Day of Peace: “The top priority is the full and effective implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, an early ceasefire and war, and détente in the region.”
He pointed out that the fundamental solution to the Palestinian issue is to implement the “two states for two peoples” plan, promote the political settlement of the Palestinian issue, and establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and full sovereignty.
He emphasized that Beijing strongly supports making Palestine a full member of the United Nations, as well as holding a larger, more credible and effective international peace conference.
“China will continue to work with the international community to jointly work to stop the hostilities and killings, support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees and organize humanitarian aid work for the people of Gaza,” he said.
He noted that China will continue to promote the return of the Palestinian issue to the right track of implementing the “two states for two peoples” plan, and the early realization of a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement.
