Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri addressed on Wednesday the Lebanese people following the announcement of a ceasefire and the cessation of the Zionist aggression that Lebanon was exposed to for 14 months.
Berri said in his speech Lebanon managed to thwart the effects of the Zionist aggression, and that the war showed Lebanon's true face in cohesion and national unity.
Berri paid tribute to the nation's martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who entrusted him with the "trust of political resistance", adding: We are in dire need of national unity among all the sons of the Lebanese people, extending his thanks to the environment that embraces the displaced for embodying a face with its cohesion and solidarity, which our country was in dire need of.
This stage was the most dangerous for Lebanon, which was threatened by the aggression with all its components, and the moment of truth for Lebanon's unity has come.
He called on all displaced families who have resisted the awl with steadfastness in all Lebanese regions and the sister countries that hosted them to return, pointing out that the very precious blood that was shed requires preserving a united Lebanon capable of emerging more steadfast, resilient and united.
Berri appealed to all sects and political forces to preserve a stronger and more united Lebanon, and demanded the election of a president for the republic.
