A mild earthquake measuring 2.5 degrees on the Richter scale struck on Thursday in western Nineveh province, northern Iraq.
The Department of Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring in Nineveh province said that the tremor was recorded in an area between the cities of Tal Afar and Rabia, 75 kilometers west of Mosul.
The tremor is part of the seismic activity witnessed in the border region between Iraq, Turkey and Iran, which has recorded increased activity during the current year.
