Madrid - Saba:
Barcelona's young striker Lamine Jamal won the Golden Boy award for the best emerging football player for the year 2024 for the first time in his career.
Last night, media reports indicated that the Italian newspaper "Tuttosport" established the Golden Boy award in 2003, which is an annual award given by sports journalists to the best emerging football player, provided that he is not over 21 years old.
Jamal won the award, which is given to the best player under 21 years old in Europe, beating Real Madrid player Arda Guler and Paris Saint-Germain player Warren Zaire-Emery.
Jamal was named the best young player at Euro 2024 in Germany, becoming the youngest player to appear at the finals and the youngest scorer in the tournament after netting in the semi-final against France.
He is also the youngest player to win the European Championship when Spain beat England 2-1 in the final and was awarded the Kopa Trophy for the best player in the world under 21 at the Ballon d'Or ceremony last month.
Jamal, a product of Barcelona's academy, has continued his fine form this season, scoring five goals in 12 appearances for the La Liga leaders.
