Damascus - Saba:

The Syrian Army emphasized today, Saturday, that it will continue its operations to "confront terrorist organizations, expel them, and restore state control and institutions over all of Aleppo and its countryside."

In a statement, the General Command of the Syrian Army and Armed Forces noted that "in recent days, terrorist armed groups under the so-called 'Jabhat al-Nusra' organization, supported by thousands of foreign fighters, heavy weapons, and numerous drones, launched a large-scale attack from multiple fronts in the Aleppo and Idlib battlefields."

The statement highlighted that the armed forces "engaged in fierce battles across various points of confrontation spanning a frontline exceeding 100 kilometers to halt the advance of the militants."

The statement also mentioned that dozens of armed forces personnel were martyred, and others were injured during the clashes.

Furthermore, it explained that the large numbers of militants and the multiplicity of battlefronts compelled the armed forces to undertake a redeployment operation. The aim of this operation, as clarified, is to "fortify defensive lines to absorb the attack, protect civilians and soldiers, and prepare for a counteroffensive."

The statement pointed out that with the continuous influx of militants across the northern borders and the intensification of military and technical support for them, the terrorist groups managed in recent hours to penetrate large parts of Aleppo’s neighborhoods.

However, the statement assured that these groups "have not been able to establish firm positions in Aleppo due to the ongoing, concentrated, and powerful strikes by our armed forces."

It added that "the armed forces are currently conducting strikes while awaiting the completion of reinforcements and their deployment across combat axes in preparation for launching a counteroffensive." The statement stressed that this measure is temporary and reaffirmed the army's commitment to ensuring the security and safety of Aleppo's residents by all possible means.
